Lauren Thompson Wins The Mighty Micronutrients Early Career Award
Lauren was chosen as an Early Career finalist for The Mighty Micronutrients Early Career Award based on careful review of abstract submissions to the 2023 Micronutrient Forum’s 6th Global Conference in The Hague, Netherlands, October, 2023, by individuals who self-selected as having 0-5 years of professional experience. An expert committee selected abstracts across all four program tracks that reflect a significant focus towards global, regional, or national micronutrient health issues and overall technical or policy rigor.
The Micronutrient Forum serves as a global catalyst and convener for sharing expertise, insights and experience relevant to micronutrients in all aspects of health promotion and disease prevention, with special emphasis on the integration with relevant sectors.
The Forum brings together leading technical experts, policymakers, program implementers, civil society representatives, bilateral and multilateral partners, and the private sector who act and invest responsibly in nutrition to generate and synthesize evidence, promote alignment on shared agendas and pursue collective actions. This is achieved through hosting secretariats, convenings, conferences, and integrated advocacy. Programs include: the Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Consortium, Standing Together for Nutrition multi-disciplinary consortium that addresses COVID-related nutrition challenges, the Micronutrient Data Innovation Alliance, and the emerging initiative of anemia with The Alliance for Anemia Actions, a UN Food Systems solution.
