Lauren Thompson Wins The Mighty Micronutrients Early Career Award

Lauren was chosen as an Early Career finalist for The Mighty Micronutrients Early Career Award based on careful review of abstract submissions to the 2023 Micronutrient Forum’s 6th Global Conference in The Hague, Netherlands, October, 2023, by individuals who self-selected as having 0-5 years of professional experience. An expert committee selected abstracts across all four program tracks that reflect a significant focus towards global, regional, or national micronutrient health issues and overall technical or policy rigor.

Christine Stewart Joins American Society of Nutrition Board of Directors

Davis, CA (August 1, 2023) – The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) has announced that Christine Stewart, PhD, MPH, will serve as Director-At-Large, Global Nutrition on their Board of Directors. Stewart has been a member of ASN since 2005, serving in various volunteer and leadership positions within the society. Her two-year term as Director-At-Large begins on August 1, 2023.

Professor Christine Stewart Honored with the Nevin Scrimshaw Award in Global Nutrition

Christine Stewart, MPH, PhD, the Corinne L. Rustici Endowed Chair in Applied Human Nutrition, Professor of Nutrition, and Director of the Institute for Global Nutrition was awarded the prestigious Nevin Scrimshaw Mid-Career Award in Global Nutrition from the American Society for Nutrition. Each year, this award is given to a mid-career professional who has done innovative work to advance the field of global nutrition and who has had a sustained record of substantial research, mentoring and training. 

Nation's Pediatricians Recognize Local Doctor Kenneth H. Brown

Kenneth H. Brown, MD, FAAP, emeritus distinguished professor for the Department of Nutrition and Institute for Global Nutrition at the University of California, Davis, has been awarded the Samuel J. Fomon Nutrition Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

This prestigious annual award recognizes an individual or a project for outstanding achievement in research relating to the nutrition of infants and children.

Rochelle Werner and Demewoz Haile Woldegebreal Recognized as Finalists for the American Society for Nutrition’s Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Abstract Recognition Award Program

Rochelle Werner and Demewoz Haile Woldegebreal have been named as finalists in the topic areas of (1) Global Nutrition and (2) Nutritional Epidemiology, respectively, by the Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Abstract Recognition Award Program, a program of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) which recognizes the highest quality research presented by students and young investigators at NUTRITION 2021 LIVE ONLINE.

Bess Caswell and Rochelle Werner Recognized as American Society for Nutrition Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Finalists

Bess Caswell and Rochelle Werner have been named as Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Finalists in the topic areas of (1) Maternal, Perinatal and Pediatric Nutrition and (2) Global Nutrition, respectively. The Emerging Leaders is a program of the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) to recognize the highest quality research presented by students and young investigators at NUTRITION 2020 LIVE ONLINE. 

Steve Vosti Honored with Chancellor’s Award for International Engagement

For the third year, UC Davis honored those on campus advancing the research, teaching, and service mission of UC Davis through their international engagement with Chancellor’s Awards for International Engagement. This year’s faculty and staff awardees—who span agricultural and resource economics, emergency medicine, history, and human resources—were recognized by Chancellor Gary S. May for their outstanding international engagement at the International Connections Reception hosted by Global Affairs on March 7.
