Congratulations to Reina Engle-Stone and Amy Nichols, Recipients of 2026 National Scientific Achievement Awards

We are excited to congratulate two IGN Members, Dr. Reina Engle-Stone and Dr. Amy Nichols, who have been named as recipients of prestigious 2026 National Scientific Achievement Awards by the American Society for Nutrition Foundation (ASNF).

Reina Engle-Stone, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition, received the Nevin Scrimshaw Mid-Career Award in Global Nutrition, which recognizes significant contributions to improving nutrition and health in low- and middle-income countries. Dr. Engle-Stone’s research focuses on addressing micronutrient deficiencies and informing nutrition programs and food fortification policies that improve the health of women and children worldwide.

Amy Nichols, Ph.D., M.S., RDN, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition, received the Outstanding Early Career I Professional Award, honoring emerging leaders who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and promise in nutrition science. Dr. Nichols’ research examines the role of nutrition in women’s health across the lifespan, with a focus on metabolic health and chronic disease prevention.

The awards will be presented during NUTRITION 2026, the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition, to be held July 25–28 in National Harbor, Maryland.
