Program Requirements

The mission of the Designated Emphasis (DE) in Global Nutrition is to train the next generation of scientists, leaders and critical thinkers to be able to evaluate and tackle nutritional problems affecting lower income communities or disadvantaged groups in the US and globally. 

What are the program requirements?

Requirements for doctoral students to complete the DE include:

  1. Completion of required coursework
  2. Qualifying exam committee must include a representative from the DE (must apply and be admitted to the DE prior to the qualifying exam)
  3. Dissertation committee must include a representative from the DE
  4. Dissertation topic must be relevant to Global Nutrition

How to Apply:

Prospective students of the DE in Global Nutrition must be admitted into one of the existing graduate groups at UC Davis before applying to the DE. Students who complete the DE receive transcript notation.
