Research Interests

Dr. Hess’ research interests involve the assessment of micronutrient status and estimation of micronutrient deficiency prevalence at the population level, as well as the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs to control micronutrient deficiencies and improve diet quality among children and women. The research program is generally carried out in the context of community-based intervention trials, using an efficacy or effectiveness study design with the overarching goal to improve health and wellbeing.
