IGN Trainees Receive Awards at ASN Nutrition 2026 Conference.

Three Institute for Global Nutrition (IGN) trainees received awards at the American Society for Nutrition’s NUTRITION 2026 conference in July, recognizing their outstanding contributions to nutrition research.

Nicholas Russell (current student) and Debritu Nane Satato, PhD (former Postdoctoral Scholar), were honored in the Emerging Leaders in Nutrition Science Poster Competition, which recognizes exceptional research presented by students and young investigators. Russell’s research examined food group contributions and nutrient intake among U.S. toddlers participating in WIC, while Satato investigated factors associated with vitamin B12 status and its relationship with glucose metabolism and hematological indices among women in Oromia, Ethiopia.

Katherine Kwon, PhD, RDN, IBCLC (recent graduate), received a Robert Suskind and Leslie Lewinter-Suskind Pediatric Nutrition Student Award for her research examining associations between breastfeeding practices and social-emotional development among Ghanaian children at 9–11 years of age.

Congratulations to Nicholas, Debritu, and Katherine on these well-deserved honors!
